We had fantastic, HOT, weather for Easter this year. All the chocolate was melting after three minutes! I guess it’s not something you can really complain about???
Eamon had already had some practice in South Carolina and a local hunt, so he knew what to do!
On the lookout
Down to business
The Easter bunny knows we have active boys… Thank you Farmor!
Eamon is most happy playing with balls, though if you add a stick things reach a whole other plane of understanding.
Deliberately hiding the ball
Papa has encouraged me to always stop and look at the fish counter when I am shopping. I am notoriously bad at buying fish (I had a fish bone phobia after a bone caught in my throat as a child), but he scored some cod on super sale recently which I enjoyed cooking, so I am trying harder. I saw some monkfish at an incredible price. I rarely even see it on sale here, let alone at a 40% discount. Darina Allen had a recipe I wanted to try, so I forged ahead.
It was involved (roasted red pepper sauce)
Papa was appreciative, but also eager to impart his knowledge. As a child his family simply dipped the monkfish in melted butter.
It was divine. There is no going back. It was like lobster, without getting itchy shell juice on my hands!
That same weekend we tried to see if the fish had woken up at Spot Pond.
All we caught was plastic debris that we gathered for the trash can
Conor held out for a bite but it wasn’t to be
On April 6 the school organized an exceptional evening focused on acknowledging all the different cultural, religious, neurological and family differences and similarities in our school community. I don’t have much to show for it on the blog, because I was pretty busy! I made a poster about traveling internationally, made Irish scones for the food tasting and I was asked to do videography again.
Ton of scones
The night was a great success. I particularly liked the “neurodiversity zone” that showcased all the various learning tools that can tailor learning to students needs. There was a ton of hands-on and sensory tools to try out and all the families were highly engaged.
The video is much more difficult to edit. There were so many themes on the night, and each grade had a different project to document… I have been going to the local TV station during Eamon’s naptime, trying to use the editing software without getting too many pins and needles…
While he sleeps…
We went to Game 2 of the 2017 season. We got a Rick Porcello bobblehead and watched him being acknowledged with his Cy Young Award from 2016.
Nice awards for some great players
Eoin was pretty impressed by the Lego Wally someone had made
I spied some berbere spice at Whole Foods one knit night. I LOVE Ethiopian Food and have not been able to find anything that compares with our favorite Ethiopian restaurant in Tucson. So I determined to try some Doro Wat (chicken stew). It definitely needed some extra flavor, and some more time to develop (tasted better the next day) and I didn’t have any injera (bread for eating with) but it was a commendable first try, for sure.
I didn’t add a ton of berbere because my spice tolerance is way lower than my Arizona days!
I also decided to make some extra boiled eggs because I had been craving an egg salad sandwich for weeks. I pulled out all the stops and added everything my nana used to add to hers.
Just needs bread
My niece Evie grew into the dress I made her! I had some gorgeous fabric and buttons that I won in a blog giveaway from Crafty Staci. I combined it with a knitted bodice from the Debbie Bliss’ Spanish Dress pattern. She looks so great, though I think it looks like it could be more… swirly… twirly…
AHA! After further reflection, it is on back to front, hence not as swirly. Must inform Lena…
We caught a Bruins game at the TD Garden. It was nice to see the Predators in Boston. We usually try to catch a game in Nashville at Thanksgiving.
Bruins won 4-1
Eoin was the Star of the Week at school so I had to get some photos of activities he liked for his poster. Normally we are not allowed take photos of swim class, but it was a perfect opportunity to ask for a special photo opp.
My godson Tyrus had a birthday and christening celebration that I was lucky enough to attend with Eamon. It was really fun to catch up with family and get dolled up for a special occasion.

Tyrus and his smash cake
Eamon and Tyrus got on really great together
Happy to be there for my godson. Thanks Papa for holding the fort at home.
