Middlesex County 4-H Fair

I tried to beat the schedule craziness in the house today by tiring the boys out at a fair. Eoin wakes at 6, Conor wakes at 9. I figured I’d try to get Eoin to go to bed later and Conor earlier. I managed about a half hour difference with Eoin going to bed tonight, but not much change with Conor!

A good fair always starts with Goldbears…

Being from Ireland I had no idea what 4-H was (it’s a youth agricultural organization) but could see that it would have animals to see and kids activities, so off I packed the boys for our adventure. As we walked from the car through a campsite full of tents, children, and horses I was still guessing what was in store for us! But it was a wonderful small fair, all run by volunteers, and all exhibits cared for by 5-19 year-olds.

Conor had a lot of firsts today – he rode a pony, went in a bouncing castle, got a balloon animal. We saw horses, sheep, chickens, rabbits, cows, pigs, a snake, dogs, oh and even some model trains… Success!

Conor practising his showing skills, bull calf class.
